Refer Fire Extinguisher??

I have two, one mounted high, one low, and smoke detector up high with lithium batteries. Also the rv fridge add-on that shuts it off if too hot.

I guess no one has real life experience with these actually saving an RV ?

They were never meant to save an RV but to give you some time to get out.

I've never had to pull the pin on a fire extinguisher in my trailer ever. I hope the trend continues!

If there is every a fire bigger than a Bic lighter in my trailer I'm not going after the fire extinguisher; I'm going for the nearest exit!

There is an old saying in car racing. "Fire is a big motivator." I agree!

I've never had the smoke alarm in my house save me from a fire, either, but...

Some intelligence in the replies, but still no one can provide info on a save by these ? Smoke detectors have a documented history of saving lives. What about these saving an RV, or "giving you the chance to get out".

25 years ago, pulling my pop-up down an interstate in Kentucky on a 95 degree day, the alternator on my van died at 65 mph.

Smoke everywhere and red lights on the dash. Started to pull off to the side of the road and the engine died when the rpms dropped off (I think the alternator bearings froze up solid and locked the serpentine belt).

When I finally got the rig stopped (no power steering or power brakes), I jumped out and popped the hood to see fire consuming the alternator. I then ran back to the popup and yanked open the (locked) door because I knew there was the little extinguisher just inside. I then used that extinguisher to put out the fire. I also had one in the van but I knew it was under all the luggage, etc. and would take longer to find.

This may be common sense or general knowledge, but if not, a little tip...

A couple or few times a year take your fire extinguisher and shake it, knock the stuff loose, it tends to accumulate and settle. You want it to work if you ever do have to pull the pin.

I have seen posts and pictures of installs. But I don't recall a post about one going off and saving the coach.

Trying to put out a serious fire in an RV is tantamount to having 1000 lbs of gun powder catch on fire and trying to put it out with a 1 lb dry chem fire extinguisher!
