The Y connector on the fresh water filler is something I had not thought of.
I do have a garden hose male connector on the faucet of the sink in the commode, which I use for flushing out the black tank when there is no water supply at dump stations. I have thought of using it in a pinch to fill the fresh water tank in much the way you suggest as I do a lot of urbandocking (boondocking in the city).

You could then use that winterization tube as mentioned and connect a hose from a faucet or wherever to fill your FW tank from the INSIDE.
