Locals will always wave when meeting in cars even if you don't each other. Especially true when driving a pick-up truck. Its really not a big wave, just kind of a lift your fingers up from the steering wheel. Non-locals often don't understand waving to somebody you don't know.
We also always ask others "how are you doing" without any desire to really know. It's mostly a greeting.
You better wave around here. Hurt our feelings if you don't or make us wonder if the wife kicked you out of the bed last night or something.
