What a rip that is. Michigan permanent one time lic plate fee. 0 to 2499 lb is $75.00. 2,499 to 9,999 is $200 and over 9,999 is $300. If the trailer is sold, the new owner then has to buy his permanent plate. It's permanent but actually permanentish.
That's for a trailer. Close to $500 for our MH every year. We drive it south in January, about 70 miles. Come back in April, another 70 miles. Then maybe a few in state trips during the summer, call it 800 miles. So almost $500 to drive less than 1,000 miles on MI crappy roads, close to 50 cents a mile.
Yeah but, people with motor homes have the big bucks. Some even live in affluent areas down state. Us northern trailer folk are po. :)
I'm sure your comment was in jest. We own a MH. The cost was actually less than owning a high end dually diesel and high end fiver. But then I guess if your not driving something bare bones you must be rich. Not all MH's are high end either.
But ... As said in Michigan ... Fivers and travel trailers are a one time fee. Registration on MH's is a yearly registration fee based on its value. Ours would be $1300 a year if payed for 12 months. But, they will let you purchase temporary 60 day permits. So, if you camp 6 warm months the cost is half.
