The most important part of the equation is
1/2 Mass times Velocity Squared"Velocity Squared" means that number a lot bigger than the speed.
So at 55 mph V2 = 3,025 at 60 mph = 3,600, so speed increased about 9% V2 increased about 18% or about twice as much.
