I want to address a couple of points raised, and thanks for them, too.
The Scanner likely wasn't used properly. The info was there, but in memory, not coming up on the opening look-see. It was because it was showing clear that the guy looked elsewhere, took off the dog-house and hooked up a fuel gauge pressure sensor. I was sitting in the 'house' and saw all of that happening. And no, I wasn't offered the old pump and that will be part of the conversation.
The cost of tune-ups is outrageous. Coils are $80.00 each at shops. And there are ten for a V10. Add in new boots and plugs and we are over $1,000. Then there is the labour. As an aside...one can buy a pkge of coils 10 for 80 on E Bay but I am not sure sure that they'd last any longer than the time it took to put them on.
I had called Ford in Kamloops and both shops were booked into next week. So, I used Kal Tire. They have a strong warranty/guarantee statement...which I look forward to testing, now. They have shops all over Canada and until this past week, I would recommend them to any and all. I don't think that they 'hosed' me. I think that they guy made an error by not looking deeper into the Scanner modes, only looking at the opening screen and then moving on to something else. As I pointed out to the counter people..they were not listening to the customer. A fairly normal male trait, 'just stop talking and let me fix it'.
I wish that I had the mechanical ability to fix my own stuff, but I learned many years ago, not to dick with this sh*t. I have cost myself lots of dollars by trying to fix things. But..I will carry a spare coil from now on.
I will craft a letter today and we'll see where it all goes.
