I too converted my duo therm analog thermostat to a Honeywell digital. The LO temperature safety feature is covered in the owners manual, it is there in case there is a power outage and the temperature in a home drops below freezing allowing the pipes to freeze, the idea being if the home owner is away it is better for the pipes to stay frozen than for the furnace to come back on and thaw them out causing a flood. My solution in the motorhome is to grab the hair dryer out of the bathroom and warm the thermostat enough for the furnace to come on.
