Replacing front external leds?

Just bought a used Apex with front leds. They are mostly out. Has anyone replaced these before? I'm guessing that it's a matter of peeling of the old ones, finding the wiring and tacking on some new ones. I'm wondering where the wire connection might be and if it's accessible without tearing into things.
