Based on this, I'd seriously question the need for investing in high-end expensive batteries. I'd suggest that you could probably indeed go to a simpler setup with two batteries instead of your current 4. Do you have a residential fridge or use the microwave off the batteries very often?
As to AGM vs flooded, as long as you have a good multi stage charger, flooded batteries should only need water once a year or so, and will probably give around 5 years of service. In my experience anyway.
