Replacing House Batteries.

I need to replace my house batteries in my 2004 Coachmen Sportscoach. I currently have four 6 volt deep cycle golf cart batteries installed, two 6 volts hooked in series to create 12 volts then the two 12 volts pairs hooked in parallel. I'm thinking I would like to install the optima maintenance-free batteries but I can't figure out which battery I need to order or how many I need. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

he just picked the wrong battery, and is asking advice

the Optima 6 pack spiral wound are very rugged
if you have a JET SKI, or bouncing a desert buggy over rocks

but the constructions means the Optima weighs less, and has less 'LEAD', and less ampHrs useable capacity

for RV dry camping you want Maximum capacity per battery size

there are many other 'sealed' AGM batteries that will better serve your purpose other than Optima

you should NOT mix batteries old and new ,change them all.
Yes, but that's not what he's doing.

    Yes.

ANY AGM battery is essentially maintenance free (sealed).

A "deep cycle" AGM weighs a TON and costs a lot too.
But that's what I got last year.

When you have an "old" RV, it seems like SOMETHING goes bad every year. I don't want to have to worry about the batteries for a while.

P.S. Are you sure that you really NEED that much capacity ??

    Why those?

  • Forget optima, those spiral wound batteries have less capacity
Four of those will give you about half of the capacity in ampHrs that you have now
Get good quality AGM batteries like full river ?
