Anyone get caught up in this. They subscribed 3 magazines to me and have charged my debit card without my permission for them.I want my money back now!!! What can I do?

I believe there is a box that must be unchecked at some point in the reservation process that will get you if you do not read carefully. Interesting that I have not seen it in a long time when I make reservations on RA so I am not sure if it is user specific or ran during certain time frames. Dispute the charge with your CC company and file a complaint with the appropriate agencies.

Debit cards do not afford the same protection as credit/charge cards do. I rarely use debits for just that reason. What did Reserve America say when you talked to them?

I guess you missed my RA scam post about a month ago. Call them and get it taken off. Also contact the attorney general for your state. The only way we can defeat these bottom feeders is to bring to the light of day, as they are much like vampires and don't do well in the light. It's not a scam if YOU forgot to read the entire webpage and uncheck the appropriate boxes. Take some responsibility. If you read the fine print on the web page you gave them permission by not unchecking.

I am not impressed with RA. I made reservations for a campground on the 4th of July. When we showed up (well before 1 pm) we found our site had been given away. We tried to get a refund and never got any satisfaction. About 2 monthes after sending requests or refund we got a letter saying they had reviewed the request and decided against a refund. I will NEVER use RA again. 3 days of site fees and reservation fees for a site we could not use. (We had to go to and pay for another site several miles away).

Ethical websites always use "Opt in" NOT "Opt out" in their dealings.

The FIRST thing to do is call the bank that issued the debit card to you, or stop in and talk to one of the bankers.
The sooner you do that, the better, preferably before the charge is transferred from "Pending" to "Permanent".
Call the bank. Immediately!

What can you do??? Call the credit card and dispute the charges! The number to call is on th eback of the card.

We did nothing wrong. All our paper work was correct and we were on time for the site by at least an hour. Even the camp host was upset. As they had no other sites we had to go elsewhere (fun on the 4th of July) the host also could not refund our money but did provide us with phone numbers. When I called I was surprised with the bad attitude of the person on the other end. And in the end they kept my money. As for the magizines I have never heard of that before.

We use Reserve America a half dozen or more times every year when we are setting up our next year snow birding, and never have had a problem.
We end up always getting a free subscription to Back Packer Magazine which we have never paid for.
For several years we didn't know where it was coming from, and then some one told us it is from Reserve America.

Reserve America is used for the two State Parks here on Long Island. I know the magazine thing you're talking about. It's simply a popup message that comes up during the reservation process. You have to click out of it yourself.

It's not a scam, you just just over zealous and didn't read.

I'd probably consider using a one time credit card number, or a throwaway card that just has enough to cover the cost of the reservation and no more. That way, if a checkbox is missed, it won't mean begging all these third party companies to cancel their subscriptions.
