- Matt_ColieExplorer IIWe have been through many states, and we stop in many rest areas to overnight. I can tell you that rest areas with a dump are pretty rare on the whole. I like the idea, but some states are even closing what rest areas that they did have. All in all, the highways seem to be getting less traveler friendly.
But, there are still lots of neat folks to meet out there.

Quite frankly, I've found there are rest stops that don't even have RESTROOMS!!!!!!! Now THAT surprised me. :)
In Texas there are rest areas and picnic areas and some parking areas. Rest areas have restrooms, picnic areas and parking areas do not.
And yes, we used to have dumps at the rest areas, but no longer. - wannavolunteerFExplorerI would be sure and check before I depended on one in GA. I have planned to use one to discover as I arrived, that it had been closed. I didn't check because I had used it before. Guess I will always check now, if I really need it.

You may also add Minnesota to the list. They don't all have them, but there are several.
Brian - mowermechExplorerI know of ONE in Montana, at the Clearwater Junction rest area on MT 200.
But I haven't taken that route in years, so I don't know if it is still open.
I don't know of any dump stations on our three Interstate Highways. - PawPaw_n_GramExplorer

This week we've seen a TT using the dump station at the Louisiana rest are on I-55 at the state border with Mississippi, and also seen a dump station at the Louisiana I-10 rest area near the east border with Mississippi.
Didn't see any on I-20 though.
Also saw dump stations at the state tourism sites in Mississippi, Alabama and Florida on I-10 this week. - TvovExplorer II

That is more common around New England than a person might think. I think part of it is reducing rest areas costs -- some places look like they used to have toilets, but not anymore.
What "gets my goat" are these non-toilet rest areas that also have big signs saying "No Overnighting" and/or "No Sleeping"... no toilets, and no napping? What is the purpose of that rest area then??
Oh, and as to dump stations in rest areas - I find them to be almost non-existent in New England. There is usually a State Park or campground that you can dump at not too far from the highway... for a fee, of course! - Kit_CarsonExplorerLouisiana does not have any dump stations at our rest areas. Matter of fact, on the I-20 corridor we only have 3 rest areas statewide. The state tore down 3 and left 3.
- NashTTExplorerAdd West Virginia to your list. They keeph them locked but most seem happy to accommodate those in need and unlock the cap. You just have to find an attendant and be patient.
- PadlinExplorerI know of 1 in CT, and none in MA.
