Results of first PSA since Radiation

Putting you in my prayer list too. Thank goodness the radiation is over. Continued health to you all.

My diagnosis came the day after Christmas in 2010. We were given all of the choices and chose the robotic removal of the prostate. I was 72 and didn't plan any more children so that helped make the choice easy. I was in the hospital 25 hr. 10days later they removed the catheter and I have had no problems since. I said the reason I had no problem with leakage ws because I drove a school bus for 50+ years. You learn to hold it there for sure.
DW is also a 13 yr. survivor of breast cancer. We got that word the day before Thanksgiving in 1999. God has given us a few more years and a few more Grandchildren & a Great Grandchild so life is GREAT!! When we finally go we have a place prepared for us.

Due to condition of my heart, I wasn't able to take the Lupron shots along with the Proton Beam Radiation, therefore never had the hot flashes. So my PSA (<0.4) hasn't dropped as fast as those who were able to take the shots, but it's still dropping and my Oncologist is happy with my progress tow years after treatment.

Congrats. I had the same treatment 2 years ago. 44 radiation treatments. At the same time they found I had tumors in my bladder, 2 surgeries later and so far I am cancer free. I must be examined every 6 months for the bladder cancer and PSA annually. For those that even suspect cancer get to the doctor dont walk run. The treatments are not bad and we are still walking around nursing our hot flashes.
I thank my doctors very time I see them for helping me live longer.

Great news for you and for the future fellas with the problem including me. My PSA has gone down on the last two tests.

My hot flashes lasted about 3 years after treatment. I still get the odd one even 10 years after I finished treatments. Hope you feel as good as I do. Stay positive and live well. Macktee

Funny thing about hot flashes: You only seem to have them in the summertime, never in the winter when it would make you nice and warm. Had those bad boys for 10 YEARS! (something to scream about don't you think?lol) and was never when I could have used it to warm up. Ah, well. God has a sense of humor. Yes, they will eventually pass...just not quite soon enough.

Congratulations and good luck. My wife is a 10 year survivor of breast cancer.

Congratulations! DH is a survivor as well. He had his radiation at MD Anderson in Houston in 2011. Doing very well!

I got scared when I read your post. The fear and the bravery you must have had to face. Anybody that goes thru what you are....is my HERO.
