Returning Phone Messages

This is the off season for many RV Parks. Often you need to leave a message on an answering device to speak to a park employee. I have a few suggestions that will help that process.

1. Speak slowly, clearly, and repeat the phone number.
2. Include the area code when you leave that phone number.
3. Include your name in your message.
4. Include the reason for your call
5. Keep the background noise to a minimum, screaming kids and booming music won't speed up a callback or make it easier for us to understand your message.
6. Even if you are upset we didn't answer the phone, don't tell your spouse "They aren't $%&#ing, answering either" before leaving your message.
7. Leave a BRIEF message about what you are seeking, but please, don't leave an unpublished novel.
8. If you are calling to complain about one of our policies, it is best to wait until you are called back before starting your rant. I am very unlikely to return a call from someone who's message is "Why do you have the stupid policy that we have to have our dogs on a leash?"

We really do want to call you back, but nearly one out of every 5 messages in unintelligible. If you don't get a callback, it won't hurt to try again, because it is possible we couldn't understand your message, unfortunately it happens.

Oddly enough, Comcast's home phone doesn't return an error.
you can text from a Comcast landline? I don't understand.

They sell a cordless phone that allows you to text from their landline. I didn't buy it, but the line is text enabled.
  • It's been so long since we had a land-line, I can't even remember when ... probably the late 90's.
  • I can't test from my landline. But, if someone sends me a text to my landline the phone will ring and a computer will read the text to me.

Badly sometimes but, it tries. lol
  • Appropriate topic to me right now. We have a trip we are planning over Memorial day weekend, Called the only RV park in the town where we are going (niece's wedding) about a month ago, left a message to call me back. no response after a week, called back again. 2 weeks, no response. Tried leaving them a message on there facebook site, been a week so far, no response. I am on the phone all the time at work, I think I have learned how to leave a detailed concise phone message. Driving me crazy, what the heck, at least leave me a message back you don't want my business.
  • Hate when people don't return calls almost as much as I hate when people call & don't leave a message.

I make a note in phoneside diary when message was left so that when I call for second, third, fourth etc time I reference back all the times the courtesy was not shown for responding to the previous messages.
  • Why phone calls and not emails. No need for an answering machine and you can leave all the details for a quick response.

It's the only way to communicate during times that rv parks are closed for the season. I guess people just aren't up to using technology. If you hit send, and the mail doens't come back, it's a sure thing it was received.

Now, if they respond or not is a different thing.
  • This place, only has a FB page. no web page. But e-mail I try to do as much as possible.
