That's what they are fighting about in Denver..... The Pot Revenue... City attorney, Fire Dept,, Police.... They are discussing everything But fixing the stuff that needs it.
Retail/Recreational pot is taxed at 40%, generating Millions of Dollars in new revenue. The rates are high enough that the Cop Shops want more of the pie so they can control the 'black market' in pot. lol.. They got greedy and now they are worried that they May have levied too high, causing the Black Market to expand!
And yes it is MULTI MILLIONS of $s in new revenue.
Amendment 64 stipulates that the first $20 million, goes to School Construction. So a least a bit of it is 'earmarked'. However I'm afraid that the $s previously allocated to School Construction will just get moved into 'slush fund' category.
