Roof Ladder bottom anchor

Bottom anchor on Ladder on Sunnybrook Fiver has come loose. Looks like attachment inside has rusted. Rusted bolts protrudes from anchor fixture attached to back of trailer. How do I repair without replacing the ladder?
  • Closed this thread because there's a dupe post in the Fiver's Forum.
  • Thanks to all who replied. Tried to find star nut locally, but local hardware did not have. Big RV center couldn't help me either. Will check the bicycle shop tomorrow.
  • Amazon has the star nuts in 1" and 1-1/8" sizes. There are special tools for inserting them, but I've had good luck just using a screw and a stack of washers that fit loosely in the pipe to keep it centered while tapping it in.

    Double Flanged Star Nut
  • Google..Star Nut for RV Ladder. They work and are cheap, just got to find the right deal with shipping. May be easier to buy local.

Also check out the many images and you may see what your setup looks like and don't forget to check YOUTUBE. Several videos on how to replace.
  • There are special threaded nuts that push into the tube. They have multiple "finger" tabs that allow the nut to be pushed in but not pull back out. I found them on some website and they were cheap except that they wanted to **** me on the shipping. I bought some on a bicycle site since they fit in the head stem of a bicycle. The bicycle type comes in metric only so I had to tap the center hole to 1/4-20. I'll see if I can find a left over and post a pic.
