I installed an LED lighting strip on my TT right under the awning which works really, really well. I've also been known to show a NASCAR race or similar even on the side of my camper at night.
I'm a lighting offender, I admit it. With that said, I hate the look of rope lights. It usually looks very tacky to me. The only way they might look OK in my eyes is if they were mounted to the bottom curb side of the camper so that you couldn't actually see the rope lights, but you could see the effect of the rope lights.+
