I hang rope lights under my awning and I have them on the inside of my gazebo and this is the first time iv'e ever read anyone complaining about their use. The thing about lighting yer' awning takes me back to the good ol' days at my Dad's prowler out at Holiday Harbour in Kingsville,he had that whole campsite lit up with the those colored plastic "Tiki-Lights" and the kerosene torches, man he thought he had arrived! Add this goofy lookin' crochet'ed hat made outta' beer can lables(Old Vienna of course) my Mom made him and let the weekend begin you see to him a campsite without some creative lighting was just a parking spot, there was pride involved! Competitive sailing lured me away from RV'ing and later in life Pop passed away and racing sail boats stopped being fun I got into RV'ing and the first thing I did was to buy some "Tack Tiki Lights" to proudly hang under my awning like my Dad before me,,,all I need now is for Frau Blücher to figure out how to crochet me my very own goofy campin' hat made outta' Molson Ex beer cans and i'll be on my way!!
