Depends on many things...
Manual tranny or automatic?
If manual, it should have a tachometer with a 'red line'
If automatic...tachometers no longer have a red line because both
the new drivers (most today) don't know HOW2 shift manually and therefore
don't know what a red line is....and an automatic has the computer
not allow it to over rev. Fuel cut off is how they manage that
If automatic, then let the computer do it's job in managing the rev's
If manual, then know and then watch the red line. Approaching and even
going over the red line will not blow up a fairly new, in good order
engine. It will though blow up sooner
All ICE's (internal combustion engines) has a torque and HP curve.
Doing tough work is best to keep the ICE's rev's in it's torque/HP
fat part of the curve.
