Just watching for a certain RPM is out of context
My 2 seater's in-line six is good for a 7,000 red line
My GMT400/Sub's 7.4L V8 is good for a 4,000 or so red line
Both my daughters motor sports bikes (one a twin v, other v 6) are good for
a 14,000 or so red line. Eldest daughter's husband said his Monster is
good for 16,000 rpm red line
Even the same V8 and same displacement, but different software, diff cam, etc
can have different red lines
Out of context unless you take into consideration what the architecture of that
ICE is.
Why said let the computer manage the ICE's red line...you manage the
throttle, which is the computers input device
If you wish to go faster, give more throttle. If you wish to maintain
whatever speed, then throttle it till it stops increasing. The computer
will manage the tranny and PROTECT it from harm. Includes overload,
and more so if you have and use the T/H button
You are asking a manual tranny question where the human manages the
engine rev's. An automatic is designed to take the decision making
away from the human
