Sounds like according to the OP, buyer may have come in with a real low ball offer. Nothing wrong with that. However if the buyer, had a chip on his shoulder and resorted to name calling etc. That would be different. Always best to behave as a gentleman or gentlewoman as the case may be. In my opinion.

No law says the buyer has to buy or the seller has to sell.
