the champ will power the a/c just fine
put the fidge and water heater on lp,
Leave them that way
start the generator, it let charge the batteries for a few minutes
Before you start the a/c
my a/c will start from my champion even if my batteries are charging at 40 amps, from my PD-70 converter
if your using 1000w charging, your batteries then let them charge for a while before turning on the compressor
while charging let the a/c fan run (fan mode only)
get some heat and head pressure out of the a/c
after the charge amps and power use drops down
take generator off econ mode
flip the a/c on low cool (on the selector switch) (low fan speed with compressor on)
but turn temp control/full cold, so compressor stays on
NOW depending on how hot things are you can try going back to econ
let a/c run until inside temp is comfortable
then 'try' adjusting the temp knob to where the compressor cycles
waiting untill everything is 100f
and then trying do do everything at the same time, creates the overload condition

Afternoon. I recently purchased a champion 3100/2800 watt inverter generator. I am using this in my 21 foot hybrid camper with a 13500 but ac. This unit seems to struggle to get the compressor to kick on. After further research I am seeing that I should switch the fridge to gas and turn off the power converter as it takes about 1000 watts at times to charge the battery and somewhere around 500!watts to run fridge.
The fridge is easy, but I'm not sure how to make it so the the generator doesn't power the converter/charger? There doesn't seem to be a breaker for it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
