And therein lays the rub. If all the water is out, then why bother with anti-freeze? What are you protecting at that point? And if all the water is not out, then that -50 junk you pump into your lines really isn't good to -50, now is it?
From personal testing, straight -50 is a brick at around 0F. Dilute with even the slightest amount of water, and it will freeze up between 15 and 20F. For the Chicago climate where I live and work, that level of protection is just not enough. We had temps down to -10F the other night.
For those of you who think the pink is such a great deal, put some in a glass, mark the level and toss it in a good freezer, or if it is cold enough, set it outside. Do the same with some slightly diluted pink. When you see the actual results, you'll think twice about just randomly pumping that stuff into your RV water system.
Pink is ok for a quickie winterize if it will be below freezing for less than 24 hours, but for a full-on storage winterization, the best bet is with a dry system, and maybe a splash of pink down the p-traps if you must. I personally don't, simply because they are open to expansion anyway, but to each their own.
So how many people come here in the spring that use pink, and say their pipes burst vs air only people?
