Yup, there are still a bunch of drive-ins around but a lot of them will be closing quite soon because after the first of the year, movies will no longer be distributed on 35mm film.
All of the movies will be distributed on DVD or on the web and special digital projectors will be required. The cost of conversion will be ~$75,000 per theater.
Recently Honda Motors held a contest and awarded digital projectors to nine drive-in theaters; one of these was the McHenry Drive-in in McHenry, Illinois.
