RV Boondocking on city streets - where is it legal?

This is more a legal/cultural question than anything else. Referring to the neighbours showing up with a shotgun etc. Where I live, pointing a loaded weapon at someone because of where they park is pretty much the end of free life as a citizen. Are there really places where that kind of thing is legal or acceptable? Does it vary state to state. If so which states. Kinda scary. Thanks for the info.
