I have bought 2 RVs off ebay, both from private parties. One was in Michigan and the other in Ohio. Lots of phone calls and exchange of info to make sure we were on the same page. No money changed hands until I arrived to pick it up. Both deals worked out fine.
I would think dealing with a dealer for a new unit would be much easier/safer.
