RV carport

My Carolina Carport had a 2 month lead time but I imagine it varies depending on the time of year.

This topic keeps coming up, but the reality is that what works is what is legal at your location. Your local builders will know the rules, get the permit.

I would imagine "lag time" depends on the company, I forget exactly how long mine was.
As far as height for a 5er, I believe most 5ers are over 12' so I would go with 14'.

I do plan on upgrading to a 5th wheel in a few years what height legs should I get.

I had a Carolina Car Port put in a few months ago. Very efficient crew and they did a very nice job. I went with the heavier steel, extra screw in anchors and bracing and steel siding enclosing the two sides that are not visible by anyone that is not in our woods. I'm putting siding to match the house on the side towards the house (siding being delivered Thursday). My house and other buildings have red steel roofs so that is what the car port has. https://www.carolinacarportsinc.com/

As a paving contractor, I "might" have taken the approach angle into consideration. I agree that buying a carport two or three feet taller than what will ever be required can be a waste of money and actually result in a less desirable product.

Tom I ordered mine as short as possible because I will never keep a large trailer at the house. My carport side walls are less than the height of the trailer. The center was taller allowing for clearance of the A/C. I did this on purpose not only for stability but to add more protection for the RV.

What I did not count on was the approach for the truck raised the back of the RV too close for comfort. I added a six inch stem wall to give more room.

I used www.Alansfactoryoutlet.com when I bought mine. They have multiple different style roof systems, sidewall and backwall options, different heights/lengths/widths etc. They also price them according to region.

In my area I had high wind and snow load issues to worry about, so it cost me more than it would if I lived elsewhere. Mine has standard rebar stakes and 6 additional hurricane ties as required for the wind load, plus additional vertical bracing as required for snow load. That was factored into the price, which was VERY reasonable for purchase, delivery and professional installation.

All I had to do was prep the area... make it level (within a couple inches) and cleared. I had to provide electricity within 100 or 150 feet (already there) and clear access to deliver materials. They arranged a delivery date, 3 guys showed up and installed it in a couple hours one morning. I was very happy with it then, even happier with it now.

Well worth the money to keep rain off the roof! We can pack/unpack in any weather conditions. We can keep windows open year round to prevent and moisture odors. Less chance of leaks, less damage from the sun. Its AWESOME!
