I purchased a tri-state carport with the optional 12 gauge support legs (standard is 14 gauge). I have it anchored to a concrete stem wall. So far it's withstood 60-70 mph winds. I will probably order another for in front of a garage to protect vehicle's from hail, my garage is not large enough for Truck and SUV.
Agree with others about getting a taller carport incase you go with a taller rv. I did raise mine 6" with a stem wall.
Another thing I did was to install a grounding rod incase of a lightning strike, probably not necessary but made me feel better.
