RV De-Humidifiers & Heated Hoses

Does anyone have recommendations/warnings about specific brands and sizes of RV de-humidifiers and/or heated water hoses?

What do you use? What have you used that didn't work well? Is there such a thing as a "quiet" de-humidifier?

Personal insights and experiences, please. Relevant polite opinions also appreciated.

while not a lot pressure, you are not looking for pressure after all regulators are set in WC inches that equal to about 7 lbs

Ummmm, 11 inches of water column, the typical RV LP regulator output setting, equals about 0.4 psi. As you said though, a lot of pressure isn't needed.

    back to your question...

I don't remember brands but 20+ years ago we lived in our 27' RK 5th wheel with a 13' slide with temps down to zero and 40+ mph winds.
We finally licked our very bad moisture problem with two de-humidifiers.

My water supply required a hose about 12'-13' long.
I used a thermostatically controlled heat tape wrapped around the water hose. Then wrapped with rolls of 4" wide x 1/2" thick fiberglass insulation. I used electrical tape to hold it in place
Wrapped all that with several rounds of polyethylene sheeting with keeping out as much moisture as possible in mind.
Then put that in a large diameter pool noodle as thick as I could find.

Wrapped it all with a roll of duct tape to seal out moisture. No issues all winter long.

You tube the water hose/heat tape part as there are all methods/ideas of freeze proofing a water hose. Your area RV dealers can be a good souse of what works in that area.
Check out the Camco heated water hose.
  • Thanks, JimNLin - I like the idea of the insulation (and pool noodles) in addition to the heat tape. No problem with melting, I hope?

Am enjoying the other aspect of the thread, also. I learn new stuff here daily.

And am glad it never gets cold enough here to vaporize LP!
