  • Well, it seems that not I, or anyone I go camping with, is any where near the average. Nor do we have anywhere near that sort of income. Very few people around here do.

How much would you have to make per hour , working a 40 hour work week, to earn 97k ?

Though a lot of people I know work more then 40 hours a week now. That standard has kinda fallen by the wayside.

Considering that the average work year is 2000 hours $50 per hour is 100K
  • Interesting, I always wondered why I drove a pickup and z mid range fifth wheel. :W

$46.64 per hour. If two are working, that would be $23.32 each.

Maybe but, when there are 2 people the expenses seem to go up by more then just 2X.
  • Thx to this thread, the video has a huge 404 views already. Yikes, it's gone viral already!! :W

Great propaganda (oops, I mean promotional) vid from RVIA. What happened to important questions like - how many people would buy an RV if they knew how bad quality is, how fast value plummets after purchase, how hard it is to get a CG site in the summer, etc?

We Canadians now have to pay about a 1/3 premium on RVs and related stuff due to the dollar difference these days and makes it much harder. At least US gas is cheaper. Then there's the question of what will happen with the economy with what's happening in Washington these days. With folks that have been thinking about buying an RV, I'd be willing to bet that many will put it on hold for the time being.

After 3 TTs in just 3 years, we've become somewhat cynical and hardened to RV ownership... :(

It is nearly certain that they are looking at household income. I fail to see how it would cost over 2 times more for a couple to live than 2 individuals. One home to pay for, one utility bill, one set of property taxes etc. We may do math differently as I see an economy of scale for couples.

  • They mentioned blacks. I have been camping almost 50 years and can count on 1 hand the number of black families I have ever seen camping. Not sure why that is.
