RV Fire in Arkansas

An RV fire in Eldorado, Arkansas claimed the life of an 8 year old boy today. His mother was taken to the hospital suffering from smoke inhalation. Investigators believe that the fire was started by an electric heater. According to news reports, the mother was able to get out but her son was in the bedroom in the back of the RV. Please make sure that you and othrrs in your RV know how to get out of your RV by using the emergency exit/windows and that all of your methods of heating are safe.

  • First thing I show any one staying in my MH is: where the emergency window is and HOW to use it and the fire extinguisher locations.

There is one located in the bedroom, bathroom, and the one in the front of the coach. Not so much to save the coach but in case no matter where you are at you can use them to make a path out if needed. RV's are small and go up fast IMHO you need all the safety you can muster up.

Very sad story but one has to think if the boy knew how to push the window open he could have escaped. Very very sad story.:(
