- TucsonJimExplorer IIOur fireplace was part of the rig as delivered. We love the location and heat it produces. However, if it wasn't part of the package, I'd have purchased a portable heater.
- wa8yxmExplorer IIIAll electric heaters are 100% efficient, I know some claim to be better than others but when it comes to heat, ALL ELECTRIC HEATERS convert watts to BTU's at exactly the same rate
So a 1500 watt fire place or a 1500 watt ceramic cube, Same amount of heat.
Fireplace looks nicer. - ed-myrnaExplorerThe fire place is a lot quieter then the cube heater.
- myredracerExplorer IIHere is a post I did a few days ago in the TT forum about space heaters that may help you decide. heater types?
Basically, for safety reasons, a portable space heater (cube heater or otherwise) should only be used for supplemental heating and not for continuous use and should not be left unattended, even when sleeping. This is what safety officials in various gov. and other orgs. state.
If there is a suitable location and the required safety clearances, I'd go with the fireplace. There are some wall fan heaters that can be used and also a kickspace heater. Wiring can be run through ceiling spaces, in interior walls and through cabinetry if needed in most cases. - BB_TXNomadWe have both, but usually use the fireplace.
- larry_cadExplorer IIWe have both, and use both!
- sljkansasExplorerThanks for the comments , unless DW pushes for it I'll use the cube.
- summerhouseExplorerI absolutely love our fireplace. Worth every penny to me. Perfect combination of esthetics and function.
- MrWizardModeratorSame amount of power used...Same amount of heat produced
The heater is portable...The fireplace has Ambiance - Bird_FreakExplorer II

Hard to do and watch a movie too. I put a fireplace in mine and DW loves it. That's what matters to me.
Buy the same watt cube heater for $25 and put a "fire" DVD in the TV to watch and money in your pocket saved.
