Garmin is the best for maintaining a signal. If we traveled extensively I think I'd jump up to a better unit. But we just travel mainly in the Northwest and NorCal. We have never had a phone call while using the phone for mapping. And have never been routed wrong with it either. My son works at Garmin so I get everything at his cost with all the mapping I want. So you'd think I'd be all over a fancy one. But for us weekenders with several 1 week trips it just doesn't seem necessary. If we were to travel a lot and be in a completely different area more than not then I could see the benefits of one. Just depends on how much you travel IMO.
