RV hatch locks

Had a bbq lighter walk off many years ago. It's the only thing that went missing in over 50 years of tenting & rving. We never lock the compartments while at a campground. We camp over 110 nights a year; used to camp 150 nights.

For what it's worth, I don't have 751 keyed locks on 2 of 3 storage doors.

IMO if the lock were the weak point of the compartments I would replace them, but the whole enclosure is the weak point, so replacing the lock does nothing to discourage someone from getting in. Just encourages them to make a bigger mess.

My locks are were switched to locks other than the 751s but not the barrel locks. I want to switch them to the barrel locks. Not some much for security but for easy of unlocking and locking. The barrel locks are much easier to lock and unlock. Plus you can buy the finger hooks to help with opening the compartment doors.

Don't lock compartments, never had anything stolen, unless you count a bag of chips left on a picnic table. The thief in that case was furry and wearing a mask...

I just camp at local campgrounds. I usually leave the key in one of the locks. It just makes it easier for me to unlock the door. Never had a problem.

The only time I had something stolen is when I left my portable grill at the park. I went back the next morning to get it and it was gone. I hold no ill will against those people. Finders keepers, losers weepers.

I have been camping in one for or another for most of my 74 years, I have never had anything stolen. the 751 is probably the most used key for storage compartment
locks. Back when I worked on RV's a large number had the same door keys, I once opened a camping neighbor's door with my key (long ago)He was surprised and also very happy that it worked.

I don't lock mine. Don't want the damage

Sadly, my wife and I are very trusting of our fellow campers, most of the times we don't even lock the rv if we leave for the day. We have never had anything stolen while camping, but now that I said it im sure that will change.

I would like to change my hatch locks someday to those fancy baggage latch handles...only because I like the look as I still wouldn't lock them.

When at a campground I don't lock mine. Never had anything stolen. Been all over this country.

I do keep them locked when parked at home or in storage. But when in storage all tools are removed.
