Same conclusion I reached about 10 years ago. But I did buy a little KZ 2011 model TT for $10k, and in my mind it was no big deal because the most I could lose was $10k. I thought of it as a throwaway. And with that mindset, I was fairly content with it for the 3.5 years I owned it. Then I sold it for $7500. That's about $700 per year of ownership. No way I could have rented an RV for $700, for a year of use.
If you want quality and can live with a smaller TT, I'd say look at Oliver.
