PS #1: I wonder what the leak rate for boats is compared to the leak rate for RVs?
PS #2: Planes are ultra-expensive to buy because they're ultra-high-quality. Planes have to be ultra-high quality because they have to be ultra-safe. Planes are ultra-expensive to maintain because they have to be kept safe.
IMHO, probably many RVs still in use wound up leaky and/or unsafe because of the way they started out.
