There are choices. There were choices. Perhaps not "this one is almost perfect" quality, but there are ones which are better or worse. Alpenlite had a reputation for providing better quality, but went out of business, they couldn't do it and be profitable (and apparently the quality went down in the end as they tried to compete).

Buy an Airstream instead of a Forest River. Too much $ difference? Then you're not willing to pay enough for better quality. (sure Airstreams can have issues, but I think most would agree they're still better quality than FR). Even the lines within a manufacturer can differ in quality.
