Batavia, my experience matches yours. I picked a relatively small RV manufacturer with a reputation for quality and for standing behind their products with repairs and updates when needed. Even so I was able to describe a number of poor quality issues and some design issues bordering on idiocy. Since then I have looked at a lot of different RVs. It takes very little time to find a host of issues involving poor design, unsuitable materials, or shoddy workmanship. Then there are all the poor quality parts that the manufacturers use. These include cheap exterior compartment latches that are all keyed the same, a well-known hot water tank manufacturer that has had years of problems with the electrical connections and power boards, loud exhaust fans, exterior kitchen exhaust flaps that break with minimal use, propane detectors that often give false alarms when new, propane tank pigtails that crack in cold weather, etc, etc. Should I even mention the poor quality mattresses. I wouldn't expect a dog to sleep on most of the mattresses that come new with RVs.
