RV mat

I would like to know where and what kind of RV mat to buy for pop-up? We've used indoor/outdoor carpeting and would like to upgrade. Please be specific... I'm new so sorry if this is posted wrong in any way.

Thanks in advance
  • Dang it NYCgrrl you beat me to it on the sand mat. That's what happens when I get sidetracked I guess. :)

I have to agree with the RV awning mats I use the 9X12 size.

I have never seen the need to put it on grass, that seems foolish.I just put it on gravel or paved sites.
If I have a grass site I would rather enjoy that and put a Small Door Mat out.

I can appreciate the reasons not to use one. All of our provincial parks or federal parks are either grass or dirt. I would say around 90% dirt. You will not see sites with concrete or patios set up. We use ours on the grass because quite often it is either wet or just been cut and grass is everywhere.

I do not like any mat when I have grass outside, ON concrete I use one I picked up at the RV dealer.. On dirt,, I try not to park.
  • I have a http://www.rvawningmats.com/
It's a plastic woven material, nice on the feet, doesn't grey from the chairs, still in great shape in it's 9th year. Don't know about damaging grass, we don't use it where rules to save the grass exist, most are dirt or concrete.
  • We bought a mat that is allowed in parks. A carefree Dura-max.
Ours is an 8x18 fits nicely. We had tried others. The ones that were a plastic woven material that are offered at almost every show to us are terrible. They are uncomfortable on bare feet, they grey easy from chair movement and are not so good on grass. The Carefree is more money but worth every penny.
A lot of CG will not let you use a mat unless it is one that is easy on the grass.
  • Walmart has a nice RV mat that lets water, sand and dirt pass thru, is less heavy than outdoor carpet, does not hurt the grass, cleans well with just a water hose, rolls up easily even when wet and will dry rolled up. I've used one for several years and they hold up well.
