Some of the posters continue to miss the point.
The idea is to have a real bedroom, not a bunk over the cab with a curtain or a toy hauler you have to spend a lot of money and time to renovate.
As for the size of the market lets put my travel experience this year against any of the other posters who say that I must be crazy. Since just last January I came up from Cabo San Lucas to Alaska by way of Death Valley, Sequoia Hwy 1 and the Oregon and Washington Coasts. From the Arctic circle I traveled to Michigan, Minn south to Fla, all along the Texas coast and to Big Bend. I am now in Tucson. Prior to last January I had left from a far northern state and made my way via Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Arches, Capitol Reef Monument Valley and South into the Baja.
Now I think it is a safe bet that I have probably talked to as many or very likely many more folks out here than most of you. And I see a real market for this.
Not only that but the numbers of shared households of those of retirement age alone indicates there is more than enough people who may want or need the floorplan I talked about.
But the real question is if you don't share my experience either in business or extensive RV travel tell me how you come to the conclusion that there is NOT a market as I describe?
My guess is most of the posters who are very adamant here are housebound most of the year and use their rigs for camping primarily, possibly once or twice or maybe even five times a year. Some are undoubtedly full-timers. But can any of you say that since Aug of 2015 you have traveled in your RV 36,465 miles give or take a few as I have?
I think I probably have as good a handle on what is happening out here on the road in the RV world as anyone and better than some for sure given my travels.
I have to say that I am surprised but also pleased that so many have commented on this subject. It is also surprising how many are so adamant that I am wrong even though they have not one shred of evidence to the contrary to put next to my facts and experiences.
But having said all of that I may be wrong too. Possibly some real good RV MFG exec has his finger on this trend and is even now preparing to go down this road. But even if they don't it wont bother me a great deal.
