Is it okay then if a hotel charges extra for a visitor?

Gary,
Of course, If the property has exposure to increased costs or liability from visitors, under nearly universal innkeepers law provisions, the inn keeper can be liable for the health and safety of their residents, when those residents are recognized as on property.
Its not about squeezing a buck,as much as it is complying with law and identifing # and location of visitors in the event of disaster
If a tornado, flash flood happened or terrorist contaminated our well, wouldn't you want your family and guests get the best in emergency response?
Terrorist contaminated well water? And somehow charging extra for guests addresses this? naw...I don't buy it, but it's your business to run as you see fit. And anyone who knows me, knows I don't frequent campgrounds anyway, so I am not going to be able to threaten you with financial ruin, but I do see it is a buck grab. And stop with the terrorist thing..geeeez
