Problem is when you have to state something is funny, it never really is. Humor is the art of laughing with people, not at them. If people are offended, then they must feel they are being laughed at. Yes, they may be thin skinned, but why not allow them that right.
Sheldon Cooper thinks he's the funny one in the group, and the cement that holds the group together. That show is a lot about his total lack of social skills in a group setting. That group also has a lot of normal thin skinned people.
