RV purchase consultant

We watch the tv shows about folks going to rv shows and dealerships looking to buy an RV .....we chuckle at what their requirements are and how unrealistic they are. One in particular comes to mind was a family with 4 kids and wanted a 25' trailer plus space for grandparents to stay over .....they also wanted a large shower/tub.....a residential refrigerator.....30"+ tv ......and recliners........We laugh and wonder how soon the rv will be parked in the back yard never to be seen on the road again.....SO my idea would be to consult with clients on their needs verses what is practical and available. A salesman will sell you anything whether it is practical or not...

  • I guess it depends on how you intend on getting paid. The trick is not just becoming another layer in the sales process. Now if you would also help them negotiate pricing you may have a viable business model.
  • The producers get paid to show a dealers sign, show a specific brand RV, show a destination campground, even to have a specific brand of soda on the table.
    It's entertainment.
  • TV is not real! It's entertainment! Even reality shows are not real!

The best we can do is just sit back and laugh at the idiocy of these shows!
  • I saw one episode where the family was new to RVs and they had twin one year olds. The show salesman never even showed them a bunkhouse. They ended up getting a model where they will have to convert the dinette and couch every single morning and evening to make beds for the kids. Yep, that'll get old in the fist season and then they'll buy a bunkhouse.
  • That's an interesting idea- maybe something like a Real Estate agent, working for the buyer to find what they need.
