RV re-painting companies recommendations?

I have a 1999 Dodge RoadTrek190 versatile. It's been stored outside it's whole life in the Midwest, and is in need of a new paint job. I'm planning a trip in February down to Florida from Chicago, and I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions about reputable companies to go with? I know LazyDays in Tampa does paint jobs, but I don't know anything else about them.

  • Have you tried cleaning and restoring the paint surface of the van? A bit of TLC can remove a lot of faults.

FWIW, I painted my TT with an airless setup. Materials cost was around $250 and the paint is like the day I finished it, after 5 years. Definitely an alternative to parting with thousands for an automotive finish.

Just for reference, I was quoted $29K to paint my 40 footer. That is without any of the super fancy graphics

Have done 20k show cars, one color no graphics.

  • Have a guy doing some work on my MH after it was rear ended. Will let you know how well it turns out. Saw a Dutch Star that he did and it looked really nice. Also saw an absolutely amazing old school metal flake he was doing on a '69 Camaro nostalgia pro stock. Has been doing paint and fiberglass for over 30 years and does all the warranty paint work for the local RV dealership. Don't hold that against hm.
  • I’m a automotive painter - take it to a reputable body shop. A good shop will charge around 6-7k using the best materials.

The cost will knock your socks off if you get a legit paint job.

For an example I am painting my buddies 66 Suburban. Just for materials it's going to be 2 grand.

Oh I expect to pay a lot. But when you consider that a new Road Trek will cost about 150 grand, even 5K doesn't sound so bad.

  • Don't know what kind of paint job you want to put on it but there are still Maaco paint shops around. I think earl Schib is still around also.
