I rented one from a neighbor in NJ years back. That was a big mistake. Half an hour down the road I noticed that the battery was not holding a charge. Pulled into a gas station and it died. Cost me $150 for a $0.50 connector that was never replaced when the owner said he had it tuned up the week before. Another half hour one of the hub caps started flapping away. Part broken due to heavy rusting. By time I got to Indiana, I found that the generator and heater did not work. Called the owner and told him about the problems and he said he had the RV gone over with a fine tooth comb and I must have messed something up. Needless to say, I was a little(?) PO'd. When I got back, I left the black water tank full after draining the water earlier then taking a few heavy dumps. Also left the water heater on with empty water tank and did not bother cleaning dog hair and other stuff off the floor and bed. A few other neighbors asked me about renting the RV and after I explained what happened, they went to a regular rv rental up north. To me, it looked as if the owner knew there were problems and figured I was dumb enough to pay to get everything repaired, saving him money on getting it done.
