Got to the local Wal Mart just before 3 this afternoon. 2 Class A's in the front of the parking lot, slides out and awnings deployed. Guess they were getting an early start to the evening. Interesting, these people would choose to camp at Wally World when they can camp in the shade with water and electric for under $20 a night at the local fair grounds.

Hey they are only resting....not camping :B Memorial day weekend our local walmart we had motorhome who "camped" the entire weekend and left for the day in the toad on Monday they were seen pulling out toad attached heading out of town.....It's funny because our town has a full hookup campground 18 a night. But we see all kinds stopping over for the night.

There always have to be a few spoilers in the bunch so the rest of us lose. It takes a lot of gull to drive away in your toad while set up at Walmart. What is wrong with these people?

What is wrong with these people?They are cheap. Walmart is not a camp ground. We stayed 1 night in a Flying J. after driving 12 hours. It was midnight and we were tired. Driver 71 your turn for the shower on the loud speaker all night long.Never again.Pogoil.

We've stopped many a night at Flying J, Loves, etc. and slept well. The loud speaker didn't work where we were I guess. Of course I do park far away from the restaurants/pump area though.

Yep, was at a Wally World in Buda, someone had their "A" parked with all slides out and was driving off in their toad as well.

Little do they know that the camping season in Texas is about to end until September... unless you like running your generators and A/C for 8-12 hours a day.

I don't think the Wal Mart police have a season, they seem to work all year round . :B

In some rigs, the beds aren't accessible if you don't extend the slides.

I agree with you on setting up a full camp, and especially on staying there more than an overnight...just a question of scale, I suppose.

Not everyone has 4 season rv's
And not everyone enjoys Cold, some of us actually despise winter.

Sorry JJ, it's not all good to have people do as they want, there are rules and common sense that apply. These people ruin others chances to have a safe place to stop and rest when tired due to abusing this privilege. When we traveled to our daughter's home in NC, we would leave so as not to hit Chicago during rush hours, which meant we were tired part way down. We didn't feel the need for a campsite for 6-8 hours, so we rested at a travel/truck stop---no slides out, no awning, chairs, etc. out. Just a place to get a wink of sleep and back on the road. Putting awnings/slides out and "camping" should be done at campgrounds, not stopovers. Thank goodness for those with common sense!

I don't either. Mine is an entry-level Class C with exposed water lines underneath, single-pane windows, and the areas between the compartments and inside has poor insulation.

Just change a few behaviors and you can still be comfortable enough to enjoy some winter trips, though.

But like I said, I know I'm a little outside the norm that way. As long as folks are enjoying their rigs however they choose to, and they're happy with it, then it's all good! :)

I just think it's funny that "RVing" has a "season." :) Why would you spend that much money and then not use your rig just b/c it's cold? It's not like you're actually "camping" if you have a shower and microwave on board!

Re: the toad, I don't see anything wrong with parking the rig at Walmart and then taking the toad out for dinner or whatever...no reason to drive a big rig around town. Parking at Walmart for a whole weekend does seem pretty silly, though...if I'm already paying several hundred dollars in gas, what's another $20/day for an actual RV site?
