I still use Angel Soft 2 ply, I see no difference in the new or old, other than the wrapper.
We tested currently available rolls of "Angel Soft" and it definitely does not dissolve as rapidly as it used to. We've gone back to using single ply Scotts. "Septic Safe" is not a meaningful term for RVers since the breakdown of material in a septic tank takes place over an extended time period of many months. RV tanks are emptied far more frequently and it is important that solids dissolve as quickly as possible.
If you have ever experienced a clogging problem with an RV black tank you would not have as casual an attitude towards differences in types of TP. As full-timer RVers we try to minimize sources of problems; using a TP that we know dissolves quickly minimizes the chance of having to deal with clogs.
Good post. I too am noticing that the new Angel Soft is not breaking down as well. I have a clear fitting and have seen plugs of it going thru. Glad someone else is seeing the difference also. Maybe I'll go to single ply. Real shame since the old Angel Soft was by far the way to go. - wny_pat1Explorer

That is the whole idea. Your suppose to fold it in half twice and rip out a small piece from the center. Stick you finger in the hold and wipe. Then use the paper to wipe finger as you pull paper off. Then use the center piece that you should have saved to finish cleaning up. That was what was called military supply economy while I was in the Army.
Scotts single ply is suitably flimsy. Like the special "RV/Marine" TP, it often starts coming apart before you are finished using it. - docjExplorer

We've used anything and everything in my RV for over 40 years. Never had a problem. It all goes down the same with a 3" hose no matter what I use. And believe me; my ol lady does not skimp on TT in the bathroom. :E
Ditto, use whatever you like at the best price.

Septic safe is advertising hype.
There are many products on the market that are advertized as "Septic Safe" or "Safe for Septic Tanks" that will not damage the concrete tank but will kill the anaerobic bacterial culture that is necessary to the operation of the septic system.
Exactly how much of the suspect product does it take to kill all the bacteria and enzymes in a 5000 gallon plastic septic tank?
How long will it take for the tank to recover and regrow the bacteria?
Also, what kind of toilet tissue has that strong an antiseptic quality?
For REAL information about your septic tank and system, contact your local ag extension service or county sanitation department. THEY will give you true information, not urban myths.
I did contact the ag extension office about 45 years ago and they sent me a booklet titled "The Care and Feeding of Your Septic System".
Then you should be able to answer the three questions! - mowermechExplorer

Sooooo, if I understand it, I should stop using the Sears Robuck Catalog pages?
The only time I ever used that was in the "outhouse" days.
The "Monkey-Ward" catalog worked well, too. - MTPockets1ExplorerSooooo, if I understand it, I should stop using the Sears Robuck Catalog pages?

Scott tissue (the single ply stuff) breaks down quickly - I use it at home and in the RV.
