It sounds like you have sufficient time for the trip. When we go on longer trips our planning is usually limited to figuring 10mpg @ $4.00 a gallon and $30.00 night campground fee. Throw in a little for entertainment and maybe a grand for repairs along the way. As far as reservations, the only ones we make are for where we know we will be for several days, like to see the kids near major metro areas. Other than that, have never had a problem finding a spot even if it wasn't always our first choice. PM me if you want with south La. Ideas for your trip.
