It's a first come, first serve, dog-eat-dog world we live in. If they paid the "rent" they can do anything they want with the site, even if that means not showing up. If you want the site, reserve it for some time in the future so you are guaranteed to have it. It's just the way it is. Someone simply beat you to it!
Not true if they did not show up within 24 hours to occupy the site there reservation should be voided.
Not everything always goes according to plan. :@
