In Australia, we saw that many/most of the coastal towns have caravan parks on or very near the beach that are operated by the town. There are also many privately run parks. Most of the RV's were camper van type units, although we did see a few larger Class A type setups.
In NZ, we did not see as many RV's in our travels so can't really comment on facilities.
We were in a rental car driving around for several weeks so we really didn't get to experience first hand the facilities. Sorry I don't have any more specific info for you. Sounds like a great trip.
